Hello all,
This is a reminder about Singing Bowl Meditation Hour for this week. Due to ongoing construction at Merrymeeting Hall (including several days of painting starting on Monday, as the Historical Society let me know today), Singing Bowls this week will be TOMORROW, SUNDAY, 1/12/20 at 7 pm.
The schedule for January is as follows: 1/6, 1/12, 1/20. and 1/27.
I will also be doing a 2-hour singing bowl meditation at the Shambhala center in Brunswick from 6:30-8:30 pm on Wednesday, January 22nd. (Find more details here: https://brunswickmaine.shambhala.org/program-details/?id=437836.)

Singing Bowl Meditation Hour
Sunday, January 12, 2020
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Merrymeeting Hall
Come for an hour of relaxation. Please bring a yoga mat or cushion to
sit or lie down on. The floor in Merrymeeting Hall is a little hard. I have some extra pillows, blocks, and blankets, but I definitely encourage bringing a pillow or cushion on top of the yoga mat. You may also want a sweater or blanket to make sure you stay nice and warm.Using sound for relaxation and healing is an old practice in many
cultures. In some Himalayan cultures, bowls made of a mixture of
metals are made to be as resonant as bells. These singing bowls are
either rubbed or lightly struck to create vibrations; the sounds they
produce encourage the brain to produce the same kind of brainwaves as
during meditation or deep relaxation.
I will generally begin by focusing on some calming breaths, and then
you are invited to give your brain a break and relax while the sounds
of the bowls wash over you.
Cheers,
Ailish
